At the age of 12, Aeliane received
an Agfa Gevaert camera from her father and she has been recording ‘everything’ ever since. She photographed the house in which she lived, the garden and the street. She likes to register what is there, and that has always been the case. She has studied photography for 1 year at the St. Joost Academy, but felt limited in the pattern of the education and lack of freedom. Her way of photographing is much more coincidental and series are created from there. After the summer of 2020, she decided to swim through the winter in the Nieuwe Meer and the series ‘de Nieuwe Meer’ was created. She goes there almost every day. The water gives her a boost, the jetty provides peace and freedom. For her work. Aeliane takes the ferry from Azartplein across the IJ twice a week. This also quickly became a series in which ‘the crossing’ is recorded in different ways, with the water and clouds as a guideline. Every day there are different weather elements that she enjoys in front of the ferry.
