For Frederique Bruijnen (1976) painting is a first necessity of life, to find peace, but also to experience a sort of freedom to experiment and create. Her work, that has a lot of interfaces with Abstract Expressionism, is about emotions and gives the viewer room to interpret and experience a work themselves. Frederique works intuitively, without preconceived plan. She experiments with different materials and techniques and she surprises herself with what happens on the canvas. Her works are layered, which results in structures that she never could have thought of, but that eventually end up as an image or story.
