Atmosphere, movements and stillness 
are important values in my work. 
Despite the abstraction, the work is
accessible and easy to understand. 
The abstract work is a logical 
consequence of my way of working. 
I mainly paint my feelings. The 
canvas I am working on provides the 
subject for the next painting. The 
most recent work is hushed and more 
contemplative. Remarkably enough, 
the starting point for all paintings is 
the background. This strongly 
determines the atmosphere of the 
paintings. It has also become 
increasingly important. That has to 
be all right, otherwise I can't go any 
further. The background is applied 
in soft, gradient colours. On this I 
paint my story in acrylic with thick 
pasty paint. The paint is so thick in 
the background that shadows create 
subtle depth. The paint winds across 
the canvas in narrow, drawing-like 
swaths, creating powerful undulating 
movements that invite you to muse
and look again.
