Tension in form and structures, that 
is what Mariëlle is always looking for 
when creating her work. She has 
developed her own style and 
processing in the use of materials, so 
that her images look velvety soft. You 
want to touch the images and feel 
the softness. The unique shapes 
give the viewer plenty of room to 
associate freely. Color is essential 
for Mariëlle to complete the story 
of each work. Experimenting with 
and constantly testing color makes 
her a patient explorer. With every 
work she finds it a new challenge 
to leave out the superfluous. 
The essence for her is in the true 
nature of people and things.
