Stella Oelbers finished her Bachelor 
of Art at the HKU and then her 
Master at the ArtEZ postgraduate 
course. Both in the direction fashion 
design. She later specialized in digital 
portraits and now mainly works in 
Illustrator, building a portrait layer by 
layer. 
The vector program makes it possible to 
print portraits larger than large without 
loss of quality.
The black and white series Awakening 
arose from a search for the inner self.
The colored series Girls of the World - 
when she saw during her travels how girls 
in particular are disadvantaged in many 
cultures - is based on the wish to make 
one universal girl.
